A recent poll has found that the majority of Americans report being ready to deal
with a natural disaster, and they believe their local hospitals are prepared as
well.
The USA Today/Gallup poll revealed that 60 percent of residents feel confident in
themselves, 62 percent are confident in their local hospitals and 68 percent in
their emergency responders in the event that a natural disaster should strike their
community.
A high majority, 81 percent, said they were prepared with both a first aid
kit and a supply of personal items; 72 percent had a supply of medicines; 71 percent
a radio with fresh batteries percent had a contact person outside their area and
59 percent. stockpile of food and water.
